So, first of all I would like to say that ,this is just my opinion, restaurants do not disburse advertising and evaluation is based only on my own feelings.
I just adore Ukrainian cuisine, varenyky and borsсh , mliyntsy and traditional drink-uzvar..etc etc
What could be better than natural and correctly cooked food.
In Kiev, of course,lots of places with big crowds of tourists , but most of them doesn't have 1.) quality and 2.) optimal price.
Therefore, I hasten to acquaint you with Ukrainian restaurants, their pros and cons which have these two qualities.
So lets start:
1.Kanapa (Канапа)
This restaurant-salon will surprise you with its traditional and at the same time a modern cuisine.
Friendly restaurateur Dmitry Borisov knows how to please his customers.
Borsch served here into the cabbage swing (cost 69 UAH.)
Maybe this place is not the cheapest one,but after visiting a summer patio you will be hard to resist.
All steeped in the spirit of the Bourgeois Kyiv of 20s, and I promise, you would love it)

2.Cult Ra (Культ Ра)
"Cult Ra" is one of the most original ethnic restaurant in Kyiv.
Old Slavonic cuisine, excellent selection of ethnic music, and sometimes there are concerts of ethnic groups. Also there is a large bookshop . Traditional borsch here is around 60 UAH.

3.Koza-Dereza
Restaurant "Koza-Dereza" - the first restaurant in Kiev, representing the new Ukrainian cuisine from farm products.
Here is one of the most delicious Chicken Kiev (for 88 UAH) and very tasty organic breakfasts (like organic cream of wheat with cocoa for 37 UAH.)
Just try it)

4.Puzata Hata (Пузата Хата)
In the city center there are quite a lot of fast food restaurants "Puzata Hata". Of course, don't expect a lot from it.
But believe me, this is one of the best, cheapest and delicious establishments of Kyiv with the national food.
Here, for reasonable money you can try all the same Chicken Kiev (about 17 UAH.) or varenyky with cottage cheese and sour cream (about 15 UAH), and borsch (about 10 UAH).Everything is clean and tidy. Strongly advise if you do not want to overpay.

5.Shchekavytsya (Щекавиця)
This restaurant - museum presents you a picture of Ukrainian life. In the menu a lot of interesting dishes. Be sure to try the homemade liqueurs (mead , hrenovuha). Borsch here costs 60 UAH , and dumplings with blueberries for 70 UAH.
Very polite staff.
Strongly advise you to come here.
